Evelyn Gamez-Gómez is a second-year undergraduate student at UNC Chapel Hill majoring in Public Policy and Medical Anthropology with a Spanish minor for the professions.
Evelyn is interested in health policy and wants to help improve minority health outcomes in the future. She is currently a research assistant for a project called Dynamics of Extreme Events, People and Places (DEEPP), which focuses on understanding the environmental, social and psychological impacts of hurricanes and flooding on coastal Carolina communities. The goal of the project is to provide actionable insights for communities, planners and policymakers to enhance disaster preparedness and recovery efforts in flood-prone areas.
