James is a predoctoral trainee in the Carolina Population Center and Ph.D. student in the Department of City and Regional Planning. His research interests include natural hazards impacts, migration and mobility, and well-being. With Carolina Demography, he investigates natural hazard risk to migrant and seasonal farmworker communities in North Carolina.
