With myFutureNC, we have released the 2022  County Attainment Profiles which highlights specific opportunities for improvement that will ultimately lead to increased attainment.

The profiles highlight each of North Carolina’s 100 counties’ educational attainment levels and performance on key myFutureNC metrics in order to assist in the decision-making process regarding local priorities to increase educational attainment at the local level. There is also an overall 2022 attainment profile for the state.

Each 2022 County Attainment Profile is a two-page document with 57 indicators from 13 different state and federal data providers. Some indicators are direct downloads from data providers; some indicators were provided by special request; and other indicators were derived by Carolina Demography. Full documentation of data sources and methods is available here.

The profiles enhance the existing suite of tools that educators and leaders have to learn how each county in North Carolina is progressing towards the state’s educational attainment goal of 2 Million by 2030, including:

  • myFutureNC County Explorer tool, an interactive map to help visualize and compare how each county in North Carolina is progressing towards the state’s educational attainment goal of 2 Million by 2030. The County Explorer tool provides a bird’s eye view of county performance and uses data from the 2020 County Profiles and will follow the same update cycle as the County Profiles for consistency.
  • NC First in FAFSA tracker, which supports school districts and schools in accessing FAFSA completion data. The tracker provides educators across the state with visualizations that can be used by counselors and other college access professionals to better target their efforts.
  • myFutureNC Attainment Trends Workbook—to help you understand trends in educational indicators at the state- and county-level. This tool draws from state and federal sources to highlight trends in three attainment-relevant areas.
